2024 Year In Review

This year was my toughest yet for running.  I decided to get ankle surgery, to resolve the pain, but it set me back just as I hit age 50.  It tested my mental toughness, but I kept pushing forward.  Keeping a positive mindset made all the difference.  Here’s my non-workout year in review:

🏡 Bought/moved to another house
❤️ Quarterly-ish visits to parents in Vegas
🐾 Moonshine’s toe amputation after another crazy injury and a scare with 14-year-old Ella requiring an emergency vet visit, both unstoppable and still thriving!
🤕 Ankle surgery, but…amazing support from friends during recovery
🏋️‍♀️ Focused on PT and recovery
👫 Reconnected with high school friends at a mini-reunion in LA
🎒 Discovered a love for rucking post-recovery, building strength and endurance one step at a time!
😞 Tough decision to skip races, including a DNS on a 70.3, to prioritize recovery
🎂 Celebrated my 50th bday with a 50k run/hike in Vegas
🎄 Enjoyed holiday celebrations with loved ones and friends
✂️ Closed out the year with an unexpected thumb injury (more stitches!)
🏃‍♀️ Finished strong with a 20-mile training run, ready for January races
2025 is all about balance, consistency, and an injury-free training. Excited for the races and milestones ahead! Cheers to a healthier, stronger, and brighter new year! And make every moment count!
