The Barkley Fall Classic weekend brought nerves, unexpected life detours, and the usual mix of chasing cutoffs and camaraderie.  I met new and familiar faces, shared laughs with Laz (sort of), and soaked in the atmosphere of one of trail running’s most unique events.  In the end, I DNF’d again, but came away with lessons,

Reveille Peak 60k – the final Capt Karl Series

CK Reveille Peak wrapped up the Capt’n Karl Night Trail Series, where I signed up for the 60k distance. Hill Country Strong Trail Run 60k- 3rd Capt’n Karl’s Night Series

Originally set for Colorado Bend State Park, the race location changed twice due to severe flooding across Central TX, first to San Saba, then finally to an equestrian center in Killeen. The race was renamed Hill Country Strong Trail Run, with proceeds supporting flood relief efforts. Huge kudos to the RD for the quick pivot



Muleshoe Bend 60k – Captn Karl 2nd race series

Hot and humid night at the CK Muleshoe Bend 60k.  I DNF’d after 31 miles, missing the cutoff.  We started 7 PM Saturday.   The course is a 9-ish mile loop we did 4 times through a small park with rolling hills and dense tree coverage.  While shade wasn’t needed for a night race, the
