Javelina Jundred – First 100-mile Attempt

I did not get a buckle today.  In summary, I did not finish my first #javelinajundred because I decided to drop the race after 95 miles, I didn’t even make it to the next aid station (1.5 mile where we were at that point).  I sat on the side of the trail, my pacer tried



Skyline to the sea marathon – last long run before Javelina!

I signed up for Skyline to the Sea Marathon because 1) it is simply beautiful down at Saratoga gap, Big Basin and all the way down to the beach, and 2) I needed my last long training run/race before Javelina. It was a hot day but most of the course was shaded with trees, so this helped



Why do I want to run a hundred miles?

People think I am crazy when I run my ultra-races, my colleagues and non-runner friends do not understand why I do this.  I run because it gives me time to reflect and listen to my thoughts, especially when I run alone.  It also helps me connect with like-minded people when I run in a group,



Desert Training

I had an awesome 20-mile training run in the desert today!  I know in order for me to complete Javelina, I need to train in the desert.  My sister lives in Las Vegas, so I visited her this weekend, and ran with her trail friends (now my friends too, sort of).  We had a zombie



The Road to 100
