Leading the Blind

I met some people from the Achilles group back when I ran Jackpot Ultra a few weeks ago.  They told me that there are chapters in other cities so I checked out our San Francisco/ Bay Area chapter and joined them this morning on the Embarcadero.  This was my first time guiding a blind runner and it was wonderful.  I learned how to run tethered to my blind runner.  I actually did well, my runner said.  I also met a few wonderful people and inspiring athletes who have some disability but still accomplish so much.  I met this guy, Chewey, who has diabetes but he monitors his blood sugar levels as he does his activities.  He participates in ultra runs and he is partially blind!  How inspiring is that!
